Spooky Season Dive: Sharks, Turtles, and a Ride on the Gulf Stream
Everybody else is carving pumpkins. We're going looking for sharks.
(Calm down. They're not wearing costumes.)
Sunday, October 18 is exactly 13 days before Halloween. Lucky 13? Spooky 13? You decide.
What's a Drift Dive?
Most dives on this trip are drift dives. You drop in, get your buoyancy sorted, and glide along the reef with the current while the boat follows your bubbles.
Translation: you cover more reef, see more stuff, and use less energy. It's basically a lazy river with better scenery.
The Gulf Stream is the star here. It brings clear blue water, strong reef structure, and a good chance at big marine life.
Two Tanks, Two Dives
- Dive 1: A reef or ledge, with the chance of stronger current
- Dive 2: A mid-depth reef focused on marine life and extra bottom time
Who Might Show Up
The reefs off West Palm Beach have dramatic ledges, sponge-covered coral heads, and a lot of fish. Here's what you may see:
- Sea turtles cruising the reef
- Caribbean reef sharks and lemon sharks
- Southern stingrays and eagle rays
- Barracuda and big schools of jacks
- Goliath grouper (seasonal)
- Moray eels and reef critters tucked into ledges
No promises. Wildlife shows up when it feels like it. (Rude, honestly.)
What You Need to Join
- Open Water certification is required
- Nitrox is suggested, but not required
- Good buoyancy skills and awareness of what's around you
Nitrox is air with extra oxygen in it. It gives you more time at depth, which is a nice perk on a two-tank day.
Not Nitrox certified yet? We can get you certified before the trip. Divers who book this dive get a discounted rate on the course.
